ABOUT US
OPERATION MONKEY was started in January 2010 by former U.S. Marine Sergeant Taras Szczur to collect goods and donations for care packages to be mailed to deployed soldiers.
Located in the Lower Hudson Valley of New York state our donated goods currently come from the counties of Dutchess, Westchester, Putnam, Rockland , and Orange counties.
Mail is one of the highlights of the day for a soldier serving far from home. But as those who have served know, not all mail is ‘good’ mail. Some letters from home bring sad news which in turn makes it hard for the individual soldier to concentrate 100% on the things that will keep them and their buddies safe. Therefore it is with great pride that we are able to take part in a program that will help boost the morale of the deployed soldier.
The name OPERATION MONKEY is derived from the name of Mr. Szczur’s dog, who is called Monkey. His pictures are used to help get school aged children involved in the collecting of donated goods. (In the business world he is known as the ‘gimmick’). Plus, you have to admit that he is cute, therefore, “you can’t go wrong with a dog called Monkey”.
A sincere THANK YOU to all soldiers that have served this great country and also to those currently serving. Come home safe.
